ANNOUNCEMENT

I am so excited to announce that three of my photos were chosen to be part of the 2021 M2R Fence Project. The photos will be displayed on fences around Cobb County until April 2022. The photos are currently on display in downtown Marietta on the Mountain to River (M2R) Trail until July 10, 2021.

For those of you in the area, I hope that you can drop by and see them. In the meantime, keep reading to see which ones were selected and to learn more about them.

The Old and the New - I took this photo in Watson Mill Bridge State Park (Comer, Georgia) where the expected star is, you guessed it, the bridge. And, I did spend some time photographing it and the waterfall, but I just didn't feel that any of my photos were all that great. All throughout the day, I kept noticing this boathouse and the colorful kayaks next to it, so finally, when my day was almost done, I wandered over to take some photos. The light, the stillness of the water, along with the curved trees, produced the most perfect reflections in the river. This is one of my favorite photos I've ever taken.

Up and Down - I took this photo in downtown Douglasville, Georgia when I was there for an organized photo walk. I really enjoy interesting architectural elements, but it can be tricky to capture something different. These exterior stairs had really caught my eye, especially the shadows that the sun was producing against the building. When I ended up with a color photo with very little color – the sliver of blue sky was pretty much it – I decided that converting it to a black and white image made the most sense to me.

Standing Straight - This day lily (Hemerocallis) is actually from my garden in Smyrna, Georgia. I love this particular variety (Darius) and they almost always look similar to each other with stamens that are curved over. When I spotted this one where they were all sort of standing at attention, I knew that it deserved to be captured on digital film.

I hope you enjoyed learning more about these photos. I'd love to hear what you think. And, if you're interested in owning any of these photos, please take a minute to visit my shopping page.
